The Shadow Lane Residence was a major remodel and addition to an existing single-family residence in The Village neighborhood of Laguna Beach, California.  The project scope included a complete interior and exterior remodel of the two-story 1934 eclectic cottage, restoring the street-facing elevation to its original design and finishes, creating a new single-story addition in the rear, and various site improvements throughout the property.  The single-story addition was strategically designed and placed at the rear of the house in order to not impact the original appearance of the house from the street.  Interior walls were removed and spaces redesigned to have the kitchen, dining, and family room all open to each other for a more modern living experience and to help the spaces feel larger and more connected.  An artisan mason was brought onto the project to design, cut, and install swirling clinker brick patterns on both the house and site accent elements.
